Greetings and welcome to my website! I am Lisa Renee Pitts, Brooklyn's native daughter and this...is...my...life.
From my early days of growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y, imitating the
likes of Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball in the family bathroom
mirror, I was destined to become an actress. With the defining
words from my mother, “Lisa, you should be an actress”
I realized what I loved so much was called “acting”
and you could actually make a living doing it!
Always an excellent student in school, my teachers said I would
be the next Shirley Chisholm, but I wanted to become an artist.
I attended Philippa Schuyler Middle School for the Gifted and
Talented and performed in my very first play…”The
Man Who Came to Dinner”, in which I had a lead role as “Maggie
Cutler”. I then went on to do my first musical, “Joseph
and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” as a “Harem
Girl”. Ready to begin my professional career at the ripe
old age of 12, I received one of the best pieces of advice that
my parents ever gave me. They told me that I had the rest of my
life to become an actress, but that my childhood would not last
forever. Be..a..child. To keep my passion alive, my parents encouraged
me to perform in talent and beauty pageants: Ms. Black America,
Hal Jackson’s Talented Teens and The Stephen Long Guild
Scholarship Pageant in which I took the crown.
I attended the Somerset County Performing Arts High School and
went on to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts from
Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
Upon graduation, I began to work constantly in off-broadway and
regional theaters around the country and Europe. From the Manhattan
Theater Club and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C to the Seven
Oaks Theater Festival in London, England, I have worked alongside
of Hollywood and Broadway’s finest. Blessed to grace the
stage with Academy Award winners Joanne Woodward and Marisa Tomei,
Tony winners Leslie Uggams and Trazana Beverly, noted directors
Hal Scott and Tazewell Thompson, as well as a host of other well
respected and talented artists.
I moved to Los Angeles, CA in January 2000 to begin my television and film career, guest starring on prominent shows such as , "The Shield", "Numbers" and "Law-N-Order" to name a few; now recurring as "Allison Sawyer" on the hit ABC Family Channel drama, "Lincoln Heights". I appeared in "Showtime" starring Eddie Murphy and Robert DeNiro as well as in a host of national commercials. My voice can be heard regularly on the radio soap opera "It's Your World" and on many of today's best selling audio books for Hay House and Blackstone Audio Books.
The voyage has really just begun and I thank you for journeying
with me this far. Please continue to check the website for upcoming
appearances and the latest “Lisa News”. God Bless
and of course…To Be Continued….
Love and Blessings,
Lisa
